"Just took my wood railing from ordinary to extraordinary - with way less maintence down the road."
Rail Shield fits snug over 2x4's to beautify and protect rails against sun, rain and snow damage. Enjoy virtually no maintenance while extending life of wood railings. The perfect complement for Snap'n Lock Balusters and Shadow Rail Connectors.
Also works with other leading brands of baluster connectors. Made of durable North Amercian PVC.
Sold in pairs or ten packs (72" lengths).
Any wood railing will look better with Rail Shield™ bottom rail covers.
They slip easily over and hug the edge of a 2x4 bottom rail to frame your balustrade infill beautifully while virtually eliminating future maintenance.
Flat wood surfaces take a beating from the sun, rain and snow and show their age so much faster than vertical surfaces.
Now you can make an affordable ordinary wood railing look luxurious and with virtually no maintenance.
Be sure to use Rail Shield™ with our Snap'n Lock Balusters™ and hidden fastener Shadow Rail™ connectors.
Use everything together.
Now you can make any average low cost wood railing perform similar in appearance and life span to more expensive vinyl or composite rail systems.
But at a fraction of the cost of those systems.
If you love wood, but hate maintenance, you need Rail Shield™.
Each Rail Shield™ bottom rail profile fits snug over the 2x4. Cut each profile to exact length from the face to face of opposing 4x4 posts.
Mark the locations of each baluster with a marker or even a piece of masking tape using the template included with each kit.
Drill a 1/8" pilot hole at each location to pierce the PVC profile. Place the alignment cones of the Snap'n Lock Baluster shoe (base) connector into the center groove.
Drive the screw into the 2x4 and you are ready to snap in your balusters.
Rail Shield™ also works similarly for all other leading brands of baluster connector though they do not have alignment cones.
The Rail Shield Bottom rail is easy to install.
Just fit each bottom rail over the edge of the 2x4 rail, pre-drill screw locations and drive the screw through the shoe (base) connector and into the 2x4.
